Project Summary
OVERVIEW
This Lenoir County Studio (Spring 2021) challenged students to research environmental, demographic, and climatic conditions in Lenoir County, NC to both inform and inspire novel approaches to disaster recovery and response in the rural context. Investigating known and anticipated future hazards and generating design and planning strategies to improve the health, safety, and well-being of community residents were the primary components of the studio. Participating students developed innovative solutions that integrate coastal plain resiliency techniques, passive and active sustainability best practices, and affordable housing strategies that respond to local needs, histories, and projections.
